Active Packaging®, is supplied to the market as Functional Polymeric Masterbatch Granules for the purpose of doing a function and duty in polymeric food packaging. Polysharif-O2Block and Polysharif-antibacterial are the most useful masterbatches which can be employed in food packaging as trays and flexible films. The base of the masterbatch is polypropylene. These masterbatches can extend the shelf-life of the fresh foods such as meats and poultries to more than one week. The masterbatches are added during the melt processing of the final product in the range of 1 to 10 wt.%, depends on the application and type of the products. Utilizing this product, the oxygen transmission rate (OTR) of the polymeric film can be reduced dramatically. The OTR properties of the film and solid container can be evaluated according to ISO 15015-2:2003. According to the standards, the OTR value is less than 100 cc/m2/24 hr.
